For Applicants

  • A network of funders coordinated by Funder Hui to support disaster response, recovery, and long-term resilience across Hawaiʻi.

  • Nonprofits, fiscally sponsored projects, and community-based groups supporting direct response, recovery, or resilience efforts.

  • Apply through JustFund by creating an account, setting up your Common Application profile and then completing our application, (linked above).

  • No. Please request the amount needed based on your actual recovery or project costs. Multiple funders may work together to support a request.

  • Funder Hui can help connect you to JustFund support or invite you directly into the funding cycle to help you get started.

  • Applying to Multiple Hurricane Response Cycles If your organization is responding across multiple islands or geographic areas, you may be asked to apply to more than one Hurricane Response funding cycle. The good news: about 95% of your application should transfer directly into the new cycle. You should not need to recreate your application from scratch.

    The most important update is to make sure each application clearly identifies the location and communities your work is supporting. Funders review applications and move money independently through the platform, and their funding decisions may be based on the geography of your response. Including location-specific information in every application helps ensure the right funders can find and support your work. If you have any questions about which cycles to apply to, what information needs to be updated, or how to navigate the platform, please reach out. We are happy to help.

For Funders

    • Review requests through JustFund or weekly email digests

    • Mark grants in JustFund or notify our Director by email when funding is made

    • Share comments or insights when helpful

    These are light-touch practices designed to support coordination without adding extra burden.

  • Yes. Grants can be back-dated and notes can clarify that entries reflect previous funding, not new awards.

  • Not yet. Groups must have a JustFund profile before funding can be recorded in the platform.
